Philippines based company, Starmobile has announced the Starmobile UP Neo midrange smartphone and the device is already selling for 6490 Philippines Peso (around USD$145).
The main traction to the Starmobile UP Neo is its camera – a 13MP camera with Backside Illumination (BSI), Triple LED flash and f/2.2 lens while the front camera is a 5MP snapper with BSI for selfies with front facing LED flash. Both cameras record 1080p videos. The camera performs magnificently in low light conditions and talking about selfies, you can take selfies by just making a peace sign (hand gesture).
The Starmobile UP Neo disappoints a little as it makes do with just 1GB of RAM and runs Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS but could have made more statement with 2GB of RAM and Android Lollipop OS on-board. Under the hood it is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6592 processor clocked at 1.4GHz, Mali-450 MP4 GPU and 16GB space of internal storage.
The smartphone sports a 5.3-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. Connectivity options includes – Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, Infrared (IR) Remote sensor, FM Radio, a microSD card slot, OTA update, Dual SIM functionality (3G + 3G) with Dual Standby, WCDMA and GSM Network support.
The Starmobile UP Neo is backed by a 2500mAh battery which is expected to provide at least 18.7 hours of talk time and up to 642 hours of standby time. It measures 148 x 74 x 8.25mm in dimensions, weighs 165grams and is available in Black and Gold colours.
