Last week, Facebook announced the Facebook 360 app for Gear VR for users to discover and explore 360 photos and videos from pages and friends on Facebook. The social media giant describe the app as a ‘one-stop shop for catching up on what you may have missed from your friends and others you follow, diving into the 360 photos and videos you’ve saved, and finding something new to enjoy’.
The Oculus-powered app allows users enjoy a variety of content from over 25 million 360 photos and more than 1 million 360 videos posted so far on the platform via the Samsung Gear VR. Users can react, save and share on Facebook as well as other platforms when immersed in an experience.
At launch, the Facebook 360 app for Gear VR features four feeds – Explore, Following, Saved and Timeline. Explore – to discover interesting and popular 360 contents; Following – to experience 360 contents on pages and friends’ walls; Saved – to located 360 contents saved from the New Feed and Timeline – to relive memories through 360 photo and video uploads.
To download the Facebook 360 app for Gear VR, locate the Oculus app on a Gear VR-compatible Samsung device and search for Facebook 360 or alternatively, visit the Oculus site to get started.
