Facebook Creative Labs has introduced Hello, a new and alternative dailer app for Android. It is basically a way for user to use Facebook as a centre of all communicating activities.
The app is a plus over Android Native Dailer and it touts three main features – ability to easily block unwanted calls; use Facebook to identify callers even when they are not on your list and it also has a search feature which helps locate the phone number of local business if they have their numbers associated with their page. It also touts free calling over Wi-Fi using VoIP; there is an option to respond via Messenger if one misses a call. The Hello Dailer app in a way competes with TrueCaller which offers Caller ID and unwanted calls blocking features.
The Facebook Hello Dailer App makes uses of the company’s Blue and White material design and is organised into four tabs – recent calls, the dailer, contacts and settings. When a call comes in the app automatically links it to a facebook profile, once it does that if the user has his or her phone number associated with the account all the details are sourced. And even after the call, there is an option to check all their information.
Hello functions as a normal contact and dailer app as such you can edit and add contacts. The app automatically blocks numbers that have been blocked by majority and when they call you they get sent a VoiceMail on your behalf. Unwanted calls can be blocked with a Single Tap
The Facebook Hello Dailer App is available on Google Play Store in the US, Brazil and Nigeria; the Global rollout is expected in coming months. The app is available on APK Mirror for those that cannot wait for it to get to their country.
