Facebook has introduced Music Stories – a new feature focused on giving facebook users a better way to share and discover music on the platform obviously without having to leave it and at the moment, is only available to Facebook iPhone app users.
Music stories are 30-seconds preview of songs (or albums) which are curated from leading music services – Apple Music and Spotify; it shared as post on Facebook using the iPhone app. Users will be able to listen to these snippet on facebook even though it is streamed directly from any of the duo music service and can be purchased or saved to it.
To share a song on Facebook, the URL of the music or album has to be copied to a post and shared via a new post to create a music story. However, Songs or Albums shared from Apple Music cannot be directly purchased or saved by Spotify users (and vice versa).
At the moment, the Music Stories feature only works with Apple Music and Spotify but Facebook is assuring more music streaming platforms would be added soon. So we can expect Pandora, Google Play Music, Deezer and Tidal in the nearest future and also there is no word on when the feature will be available on web and Android app.
