The app currently has a 3.9 Star rating out of 5 and is one of those hugely popular apps on the Play Store. Facebook caused some ruckus amongst is users when it decided to launch the Facebook Messenger as a separate app and even going as far as stylishly enforcing the download on users.

Its not all that gloom about the Facebook Messenger for Android as the app itself has so many rich features and facebook has been adding more user related feature. Initially, the app could make voice and video calls, inbox non-facebook friends, stickers, and has added new features like peer-to-peer payment and revamped location sharing system.

In terms of communication, Facebook currently controls the top of the ranges with Facebook, Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger all having over 1 Billion downloads on Google’s Play Store. The company has also opened up the messenger platform up to developers to create a family of apps which would include Instagram and Whatsapp.
