Few weeks after Apple rolled out its Podcasts subscription service, Facebook has announced plans to support Podcast streaming on its platforms from June 22 and eventually add a twitch-like clips’ feature which lets users post short clips of their favourite shows. Based on a report by The Verge, citing an email sent to page owners, Facebook Podcast Streaming will allow podcasters link their show’s RSS feed with their page, so as to post new content or episodes whenever they are available.

The service will post new episodes under the podcasts tab, share them with page followership and allow them listen directly on Facebook. There will also be a future option to enable ‘Clips’, allowing users share short episode clips (less than 1 mins long) to increase engagement and visibility.
Currently, there is no detailed information on how Facebook intends to compete with rivals such as Apple and Spotify who are way ahead in the podcast space. Both companies have been going neck-to-neck in recent times with different announcements and initiatives. Furthermore, both companies now offer subscription option to creators to charge for exclusive content and more.
Thank you for this valuable information. And I hope you will keep posting like this in future also.
