FairPhone has announced its latest model smartphone – the Fairphone 2. The Netherlands company is dedicated to making eco-friendly smartphones which are ethically sourced and safe to use. The device carries on the company’s policy for respecting human right and the environment.
The FairPhone 2 is a modular smartphone and is easy to repairs or swap out parts of the device. Parts such as speakers, microphones, camera, Processor, USB port and LEDs would be swappable with components the company would sell and easily replaced with a screwdriver.
The display is replaceable by lifting two metal clips to remove and replace it. It is further customisable with an expansion slot for future hardware module, replaceable back cover and replaceable battery.
Moving to the hardware specs, the FairPhone 2 sports a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor paired with 2GB of RAM and 32GB space of internal storage. There is a microSD card slot for storage expansion.

The FairPhone 2 is expected to be available in the summer for a price around €525 ($590) when pre-orders for the smartphone starts in Europe. The company is expecting the FairPhone 2 to outsell the Original FairPhone which sold around 60,000 units.
