Philippines based OEM, Firefly Mobile has announced a new device in the intense series – the Firefly Mobile Intense Metal. The lower-midrange device has a full metal body build (Magnesium Alloy) and has a price tag of around Php 4499 ($97).
Moving to the keys details, the Firefly Mobile Intense Metal features a 5.5-inch IPS OGS display with a disappointing resolution of 960 x 540 pixels (qHD) and a pixel density of 200ppi. The display is protected by Asahi Dragon Trail Glass.
Under the hood, it is powered by a quad-core Mediatek MT6582 processor clocked at 1.3GHz with Mali-400 MP2 GPU, 1GB of RAM, 8GB space of internal storage and a microSD card slot for storage expansion (up to 128GB).
On the back, there is a 13MP AutoFocus camera with Sony BSI sensor and LED flash; the front camera is a 5MP snapper (interpolated up to 8MP) for selfies. Connectivity options on the Firefly Mobile Intense Metal includes – 3G HSPA+, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Wi-Fi Hotspot, GPS/A-GPS, and Bluetooth.
Sensor options includes – Accelerometer, Ambient Light Sensor and Proximity. The Firefly Mobile Intense Metal runs Android 4.4 Kitkat OS and is backed by a removable 3300mAh battery. Black, White and Gold are the available colour options.
It is easy to criticise the device for its low-res display and insufficient amount of RAM; but considering the sub-$100 price tag, battery and camera features, there shouldn’t be much to complain about.
