Acer has teamed up with Google to introduce the first Chrome OS Tablet – Acer Chromebook Tab 10. The education-focused slate joins other all-in-ones, convertibles, desktops and laptops running Chrome OS and also tough it out with the new, affordable 9.7-inch iPad with Apple Pencil Support aimed for a similar purpose and audience.
The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 sports a 9.7-inch ( 2048 x 1536 pixels) IPS LCD display, rear 5MP camera, front 2MP camera for video chats and a 34Wh battery for up to 9 hours of usage. It also ships with a built-in Wacom EMR stylus for capturing ideas, taking notes, sketching and interacting with apps.
Internally, it obviously runs Chrome OS (with Android app support and later Google’s AR Core Android initiative) and relies on Google’s “OP1” processor (Rockchip RK3399 SoC) paired with 4GB of RAM and 32GB built-in storage. Other connectivity and port options include: Wi-Fi 802.11ac (2 x 2 MIMO), Bluetooth 4.1, microSD card slot, 3.5mm headphone jack and USB 3.1 Type-C port.
The Acer Chromebook Tab 10 will go on sale in the US priced at US$ 329 starting April and will be available in Europe, Africa and the Middle East in May starting at €UR 329.
