Fitbit announced three new fitness trackers – the Fitbit Charge, Fitbit Charge HR, and Fitbit Surge on Monday. All three devices offer wireless syncing, automatic sleep tracking, silent alarm and activity tracking.
The Fitbit Surge and Charge both offer automatic and continuous wrist-based PurePulse heart rate monitoring. The company says the PurePulse uses safe LED lights to detect blood volume changes right on the wrist to deliver heart rate monitoring 24/7.
The Fitbit Surge looks more of a smartwatch than a fitness band. It is tipped to provide around 7 days of battery life; offers Caller ID notifications and music controls when paired with a smartphone. Specs wise it has Eight Sensors – 3-axis accelerometers, gyroscope, compass, ambient light sensor, GPS and heart rate sensor. The Built-in GPS system offers statistics like pace, distance, elevation, split times, route history and workout summaries.
The Fitbit Charge and the Charge HQ also offer incoming call notifications on its screen; while the former provides 7 days of battery life, the latter promises up to 5 days of battery life.
The Fitbit Charge is now available on Fitbit.com for $129.95 Black, Slate, Burgundy & Blue colour options; while the Fitbit Charge HR and Fitbit Surge will be available in early 2015 at $ 149.95 and $249.95 respectively in Black, Plum, Blue and Tangerine colours.
