One of the biggest players in the wearable industry, Fitbit has released its fitness and health focused smartwatch – the Fitbit Ionic. The brand’s first fully-fledged smartwatch comes with support for third-party apps and runs the in-house Fitbit OS which connects seamlessly with Android, iOS and Windows devices.
Along with expected Fitbit features such as automatic step, sleep and calories tracking, the Fitbit Ionic ticks happens to tick the boxes of a smartwatch: it has an all day heart rate sensor, relative SpO2 sensor (for estimating blood oxygen levels), built-in GPS for outdoor fitness tracking, water resistance (up to 50 meters), and up to four days of battery life on a single charge.
Other smart features include: contactless payments (Fitbit Pay), smart notifications, and on-board music (2.5GB storage). There are also varieties of clock faces and apps in the Fitbit App Gallery. The watch will arrive in three stylish colour options: Silver Gray tracker and clasp with Blue Gray band, Smoke Gray tracker and clasp with Charcoal band, or Burnt Orange tracker and clasp with slate Blue band.
Accessories (Classic, Two-toned breathable Sport Band and Hand-crafted and Perforated Horween leather) for the Fitbit Ionic range from $29.95 to $59.95. Fitbit is also partnering with Adidas to release a special-edition Ionic model in 2018.
Fitbit Flyer Wireless Headphones
Fitbit Flyer is the company’s first bluetooth wireless headphones built with fitness in mind. It combines a durable and sweatproof design with cutting-edge audio technology from Waves MaxxAudio to deliver superior sound quality. To ensure comfort and secure fit in the ear during workouts, it is customisable with a series interchangeable ear tips, wings and fins.
Users can listen to their favourite music on the Fitbit Ionic smartwatch or Audio Coaching sessions (via the new Fitbit Coach app) using the Fitbit Flyer. It promises up to up to six hours of playtime and about 15 minutes of quick charge provides an extra hour of playtime.
Priced at $129.95, the Flyer is already available via Fitbit.com and select online retailers. It will arrive in stores worldwide by October 2017 in Lunar Gray or Nightfall Blue colours. In North America (Canada and US), it will be available from retailers such as Amazon, Best Buy, Brookstone, Nordstrom and Target.
