Fitbit OS 2.0: Whats New and Different?

Alongside the new Fitbit Versa Smartwatch, Fitbit introduced the second major edition of its proprietary smartwatch operating system – the Fitbit OS 2.0. It comes pre-loaded on all Versa devices and will start rolling out this month (March) in phases to Ionic devices.

The Fitbit OS 2.0 update promises headline feature – Fitbit Today and others such as Female Health Tracking, New Parent app, Quick Replies and More Music options. Redesigned Fitbit Today is the new interactive dashboard for health and fitness data. By swiping up the clock face, users will have access to their daily and weekly stats, exercices summaries, motivational messages, tips and tricks and more.

In addition to Pandora, Versa and Ionic users will be able to listen to music directly from Deezer. A new app for Fitbit OS recommends tunes directly from user’s library, and as expected, paid subscription is required to use the Deezer service. (Fitbit is giving its smartwatch users three months free access).

Others include the new female health tracking service feature for those who identify as female to learn more about their menstrual cycle and learn more about their bodies. Android phone users will now be able to send ‘Quick Replies’ to text messages and messenger apps like Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger.
