During the week, Fitbit announced new devices and experiences for women, parents, kids and more. The San Francisco based brand announced the Fitbit Versa, it second Smartwatch after last year’s Ionic; and the kid-focused Fitbit Ace which seems to be modelled after the Fibit Alta HR.
Fitbit also announced its new Female Health tracking feature and the Fitbit Ionic: Adidas Edition, which comes pre-loaded with the Adidas Train app and available from select online retailers for $329.95. The Ionic: Adidas Edition will also be available in stores worldwide beginning March 19, 2018.
Fitbit Versa
Fitbit announced its second true ‘fitness and health-focused’ smartwatch – the Fitbit Versa. The new offering closely resembles the Apple Watch with its polished and sleeker appearance, and will arrive with various new watch bands in styles and colours similar to those of the aforementioned watch.
The Versa offers personalised health and fitness guidance, fitness and sleep tracking, 24/7 heart rate tracking, apps, phone-free music and notifications, female health tracking and up to four days of battery life. It is swimproof (up to 50m), very lightweight and comes in Black, Rose Gold and Silver colour options.
The key difference between the Versa and its predecessor, the Ionic is the absence of built-in GPS. Fitbit is also releasing a Versa Special Edition with NFC chip on-board to make payments in the Americas using Fitbit Pay and two new exclusive looks – Charcoal Woven/Graphite Aluminium and Lavender Woven/Rose Gold Aluminium.
The Fitbit Versa is priced at US$ 199.95 and pre-orders are open now, with shipping scheduled for next month (April). The Fitbit Versa Special Edition is priced higher starting at US$ 229.95.
Fitbit Ace
The Fitbit Ace is the brand’s first fitness tracker for kids ages 8 and up. It offers steps and sleep tracking, up to 10 multiple clock faces, rewards for hitting goals, lasts up to 5 days of usage on single charge and comes in two adjustable and interchangeable wristband colors—Electric Blue and Power Purple.
The Ace also displays call notifications, reminders to moves, group challenges for competing against family members and full parental control via the Fitbit Family Account. It is already available on pre-order for US$ 99.95 and will be available in stores worldwide in Q2 2018.
Fitbit Female Health Tracking
Fitbit also added its new Female Health Tracking feature to the Fitbit app and on the Versa and Ionic smartwatches. It offers in-app period tracking, smartwatch integration, news and community support for better body knowledge, personalised insights, more productive doctor visits and more.
The Fitbit Female Health Tracking feature (coming as part of Fitbit OS 2.0) will start arriving in Spring 2018 for users who have identified as Female in their profiles and will also be available to those who don’t identify as female but want to use the feature.
