Fossil’s first Android Wear OS powered smartwatch – the Fossil Q Founder is now available for sale for a starting price of $295 in the US. The Q Founder is much cheaper compared to the Moto 360 and Huawei Watch which both runs similar OS.
The Fossil Q Founder is one off the four Fossil Q Line of connected wearables but is the only one running Google’s Android Wear OS which guarantees added functionality and support for 3rd party apps. Housed in a stainless steel case, the watch has a round 46mm-diameter touchscreen display, stainless steel bands (the leather strap version will be available at a later date).
It is compatible with most 22mm straps around and devices running Android 4.4 (or later) and iOS 8 (or later). The smartwatch has a microphone for voice input, is IP67 certified for water resistance, 4GB built-in storage space and is powered by a 400mAh battery which guarantees up to 24 hours of usage.
There is support for Bluetooth 4.1 LE connectivity as well as 3-axis Accelerometer and 3-axis Gyroscope sensor options. The Fossil Q Founder weighs 71.94 grams and has features / functions of similar smartwatches around – activity tracking, customisable watch face, receiving notifications and more.
