Madrid based Spanish football club, Getafe has launched a mobile dating app – Getafinder with the aim of finding soul mates for fans in order to reproduce more fans as a result leading to a boost in matchday fans attendance. The app is already live on Google Playstore.
Getafinder is not a general app and only fans of Getafe will find the app interesting as it works exclusively for them and around the club’s home ground – the Coliseum Alfonso Perez stadium located in the southern suburb of Madrid and nearby.
The description of the app reads – “Getafe is one of the teams with less number of supporters in La Liga. What can we do about it? It’s very simple. Reproduce ourselves.” It works like Tinder which requires users to swipe left or right with the hope of finding a better match.
Founded in 1946 and refunded in 1983, Getafe currently has the lowest matchday attendance in La Liga with an average 9900 occupying a stadium with capacity around 17,500 which is actually one of the least in the top flight league. The club will be hoping the app helps increase the number of season ticket holders to 10,000.
