Gigabyte debuts four entry-level smartphones – Classic, Classic Lite, Essence and Essence 4

Gigabyte just released two Android Lollipop based entry-level smartphones – the Gigabyte Classic, Gigabyte Classic Lite, Gigabyte Essence and Gigabyte Essence 4. All four devices supports 3G connectivity and are moderately priced with a sub-€100 priced tag.  

Gigabyte Classic

The Gigabyte Classic (or Gigabyte Gsmart Classic) sports a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display, powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 1GB of RAM, 8GB built-in storage, a microSD card slot (up to 32GB) and runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS out-of-the-box.

The Dual-SIM enabled smartphone has a 8MP main camera and a 5MP front camera. The Gsmart Classic supports 3G connectivity but not 4G LTE connectivity; it also has Bluetooth 2.1 and Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n connectivity options. The whole shebang is backed by a 2000mAh battery.

Gigabyte Classic Lite

Backed by a bigger 21000mAh battery, the Gigabyte Classic Lite (or Gigabyte Gsmart Classic Lite) sports a 5-inch (854 x 480 pixels)  with a pixel density of 196ppi. It is powered by same chipset as the above but is slightly under clocked and the RAM has decreased to 512MB.

The device retains the same 8GB built-in storage (expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card slot) and the cameras has also been downgraded to 5MP/2MP both on the back and front. 

Gigabyte Essence

Running Android 4.4 Kitkat OS, the Gigabyte Essence (or Gigabyte Gsmart Essence) sports a 4.5-inch (854 x 480 pixels) FWVGA IPS LCD display (218ppi), powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz paired with 512MB RAM, 8GB space of internal storage and a microSD card slot.

For photography, there is a 5MP main camera and a 2MP front camera for selfies. It measures 8.8mm thin, weighs 120 grams, has Dual SIM slots (Micro + Mini), supports 3G as well as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and Bluetooth connectivity options and is backed by a 1600mAh Lithium-ion battery. 

Gigabyte Essence 4

The Gigabyte Essence 4 (or Gigabyte Gsmart Essence 4) 4-inch (480 x 800 pixels) WVGA display (233ppi), powered by a dual-core Mediatek processor with 512MB of RAM and 4GB internal storage. It has a rear facing 2MP main camera, front facing 0.3MP (VGA) camera and is backed by a 1300mAh battery.  

Pricing

Moving to the pricing, the Gigabyte Classic costs around €95, the Classic Lite costs around €75, the Essence costs around €70 and the Essence 4 costs around €55.
