Gionee has unveiled the 5.5mm thin Gionee Elife S7 in India at an event in Hyderabad. The Elife S7 would be available in Blue, White and Black Colour options for Rs 24,999 ($404).
The Gionee Elife S7 was announced some months ago at the MWC 2015; while emphasis is placed on the device’s thiness the company stressed that it didn’t compromise on the performance and function of the smartphone.
The Gionee Elife S7 measures 5.5mm thin, weighs 127 grams, supports Dual SIM functionality and Runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS based Amigo 3.0 UI. It sports a 5.2-inch Full HD Super AMOLED display (424ppi) with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection and is powered by a 1.7GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6572 SoC coupled with 2GB RAM and 16GB space of internal storage which is non-expandable.
Other specs features includes – 13MP AutoFocus camera with LED flash, front 8MP camera, 4G LTE connectivity, USB OTG and non-removable 2750mAh battery.
In another news, Gionee announced it would be launching the Gionee Elife E8 flagship alongside M-Series and P-series smartphones in India. All the device expected would have LTE enabled in 80% of them and would most likely be ‘Made in India’ as the company has stepped up its plans to manufacture it’s devices in the company by Mid-2015.
Going back to the Gionee Elife E8 flagship, the device is expected to launch by June and would be available globally including India. The Elife E8 would be coming almost 18 months after the company announced the Gionee Elife E7. Gionee President, William Lu explained the reason for the delay stating – that the upcoming model was not supposed to be an ‘incremental upgrade’ but would adopt a completely new design that would ‘compete with the best’.
While there is no information on what specs and features to expect from the Gionee Elife E7 successor, the Elife E8. The rumour mill has cooked up some specs features which is not definitive for now. It is expected to sport a 5.5-inch to 6-inch IPS LCD display, powered by an octa-core processor with 3GB of RAM, 16MP main camera, front 8MP camera, 16GB space of internal storage, a microSD card slot, Android 4.4 Kitkat or Android 5.0 Lolliopop OS (with the company’s UI ontop) and a battery capacity of around 3000mAh.
