Gionee Elife S7 set to be unveiled at the MWC 2015

Gionee initially sent out invites this month that it would be attending the MWC 2015 and it would even announce a super slim smartphone. The smartphone is question is no other than the Gionee Elife S7.

Gionee holds the Guinness Book of Record for two of its smartphone – the Elife S5.5 (5.5mm thin) and the Elife S5.1 (5.15mm). But that record has been shattered by fellow Chinese manufacturers – starting with the Oppo R5 (4.85mm), Vivo X5 Max (4.75mm) and of recent the Coolpad Ivvi K1 Mini (4.7mm) holds the title.

Going by the comments made by the Head of Marketing at Gionee, Oliver Sha:

“The race to make the slimmest smartphone was getting out of hand. Going so slim is actually not benefiting user experience without the performance to back it up”.

Her statement could mean two things – One is the Gionee Elife S7 would be concentrating on performance over thinness OR the Elife S7 would be super thin as well as pack standard performance meaning it wouldn’t sacrifice performance for thinness.

According to Chinese Publication Anzhuo, the Gionee Elife S7 would be 4.6mm in thinness which would see it being 0.2mm thinner than the Oppo R5. This would also see Gionee ditch its naming convention for the Elife series (it uses 5.5 and 5.1 to differentiate the Elife S5.5 and S5.1).

Asides the thinness, there is no words on specs at the moment but the publication revealed lived images about the device but we cannot confirm the authenticity. Since the MWC 2015 is just few days away we will surely have more information by then. Check-out the images of the Gionee Elife S7.
