Gionee has been on a roll of late with new smartphone offerings and more has been leaked via various sources. The Gionee GN5001S has been certified on TENAA in China and is expected to go official as the Gionee S6 Lite.
The Gionee GN5001S (or Gionee S6 Lite) is a lite variant of the Gionee S6 which launched mid-November. It sports a 5-inch TFT display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD), measures 143 x 69.9 x 8.65mm in dimensions, weighs a rather heavy 185 grams and is powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz with 1GB of RAM.
For photography, there is a 5-megapixels front facing camera for selfies as well as video chats and a rear facing 8-megapixels camera with LED flash. Internal storage stands at 16GB and there is a microSD card slot for expansion up to 128GB. Connectivity options onboard includes – Bluetooth, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, GPS and 4G LTE.
The Gionee GN5001S runs Android 5.1 Lollipop OS but is unlikely to have the same USB Type-C port but we won’t rule it out entirely; it has the same all-metal body build and will arrive in Gold and Black colour options. Pricing is expected to hover around the USD 160 – 170 price tag.
