Some hours ago, Gionee teased the Gionee M5 smartphone which would come with a Dual Battery setup i.e it would be powered by two batteries which would double the battery capacity. The M5 has been certified in China on TENAA and as always we have managed to get a peek into what the device would offer.
So what do we know about the phablet sized Gionee M5 specs – it sports a 5.5-inch (720 x 1280 pixels) HD AMOLED display, powered by a quad-core processor clocked at 1.3GHz paired with 2GB of RAM and 16GB space of internal storage. On the rear there is a 8MP camera with LED flash and a front facing 5MP camera for selfies.
The device runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop OS, measures 152 x 76 x 8.6 mm in dimension and weighs 213 grams which is understandable considering the fact that it houses two batteries. It would support the following network bands -GSM, CDMA, TD-SCDMA, TD-LTE, LTE FDD and WCDMA.
Back to the Dual Battery talk – TENAA lists the total battery capacity at 6000mAh; however it is unknown how much capacity each battery would have. This is not the first commercial device which would have a Dual Battery Setup – the Innos D6000 uses the same setup (2500mAh + 3500mAh) to achieve its 6000mAh capacity and both batteries charge at the same time at a moderate time rate.
We will just have to wait for the official announcement to know more details about the devices. For now who is willing to get the Gionee M5 for its 4 days of battery life?
