Gionee has officially announced the Gionee S Plus in India, the phablet sized device was initially expected to be called the Gionee Elife S Plus. It will be available starting the first week in November for a price tag of Rs 16999 ($259) in Dark Blue, Golden and White colour options.
“In today’s fast paced time, the consumer needs and desires are evolving and they don’t want to compromise on the looks nor the specs of the device. Hence to bridge in the gap, we have introduced the all new S Plus especially in India this Diwali to meet all the expectations that our consumers are asking for. In fact, the all new S Plus is equipped with new features like Face Unlock that would help consumers unlock there device in less than a second”,
said GM, Gionee India, Timir Baran Acharyya commenting on the launch.
The Gionee S Plus is the company’s first ever smartphone to come with the USB Type-C Port and is backed by an ample 3150mAh battery with fast charging features. Running Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with Amigo UI 3.1 ontop, it has the accustomed Dual SIM slot and supports 4G LTE bands in India.
The device sports a 5.5-inch Super AMOLED display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels (HD) and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. Under the hood lies an octa-core MediaTek MT6753 64-bit processor clocked at 1.3GHz with Mali-T720 GPU, 3GB RAM and 16GB internal storage space.
In the camera segment sits a front facing 5-megapixels camera for selfies and a rear facing 13-megapixels camera with LED flash; for additional storage, there is a microSD card slot for storage expansion (possibly up to 128GB).
The Gionee S Plus comes with features such as 3D vibration mode, Immersive touch, Rumble effect and Face Unlock that lets user unlock the device in less than one second. USB Type-C, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and 4G LTE/3G HSPA+ are the other connectivity options onboard.
