Google announce Android Oreo (Go Edition) Alongside Android 8.1

Google has introduced Android Oreo (Go Edition) as part of the release of Android 8.1 Oreo. The Android Go platform was announced earlier this year at Google I/O to provide a streamlined user experience for entry-level devices with 1GB of memory or less in emerging regions such as India, Southeast Asia and Africa.

Android Oreo (Go Edition) promises more available user storage due to fewer apps pre-installed, up to 50% smaller apps size, up to 15% faster app load time and all the security features found on Android Oreo. It comes pre-loaded with Google’s new Files Go – a new app to quickly find files and gets rid of unwanted content.

Google has also included optimised version of its popular apps such as Google Go, Google Assistant Go, YouTube Go, Google Maps Go, Gmail Go, Gboard, Google Play and Chrome. It also includes a built-in data saver feature to control and monitor data usage and Google Play Protect is also on-board to keep the device, data and apps safe.
