Few days after confirming Android 9.0 Pie as the next version of Android, Google has announced the Go Edition of its mobile OS. Android 9 Pie (Go Edition) will follow the same blueprint as Oreo (Go Edition) i.e provide fast and smooth experience optimized for first-time and entry-level smartphone owners.
According to Google, there are now more than 200 Android Go devices in 120+ countries including Brazil, India, Nigeria and South Africa since the launch. These devices are available for as low as $30 and more than 100 manufacturers have plans to release Android Go devices by the end of 2018.
With Android 9 Pie (Go Edition), Google is looking to bring all the latest improvements available in the new version to entry-level devices. This version will bring features such as:
- Faster Load times.
- 50% Smaller App Sizes.
- Latest security features such as Verified Boot.
- Caller ID and Spam Protection added to phone app.
- Dashboard for tracking and monitoring Data (Data Saving)
- Up to 500MB more storage out-of-the-box compared to Oreo (Go Edition)
- Android Messages app for Go Edition devices is now 50-percent smaller in size.
- Complete lineup of Go apps – Google Go, Google Assistant Go, Gboard, Files Go, YouTube Go, Maps Go
Devices running Pie (Go Edition) will be available starting this fall.
