Last month Google confirmed it was working on the successor to the Chromebook pixel which was announced in 2013.  The 2015 Chromebook Pixel resembles the original Chromebook pixel in terms of looks and design – it keeps the same aluminium body, smooth glass trackpad and Backlit keyboard.

All the changes come in the specification aspect – it sports the same 12.85-inch 2560 x 1700 resolution touchscreen display with a pixel density of 239 PPI. It now uses a faster processor – either a 2.2 GHz Intel Core i5 processor or a 2.4 GHz Core i7 processor options with 8GB/16GB RAM, 32GB/64GB space of flash storage and a microSD card slot is on-board.

The device now rocks not one but two USB Type C which asides being used to Charge the device and also use compatible adapters such as HDMI or DisplayPort. Others includes – Bluetooth, 2 x 2 802.11ac Wi-Fi, two USB 3.0 ports and Wide angle camera lens.

The 2015 Chromebook Pixel  obviously runs Chrome OS weighs 1.5Kg, measures 297.7 x 224.55 x 15.3 mm in dimensions and lasts 12 hours on a single full charge plus with just 15 minutes of charge you get straight 2 hours of usage.

The Pixel is available in two models – the base model and a LS (Ludicrous Speed) model. The base model sports the 8GB RAM, 32GB space of flash storage and an Intel Core i5 processor; costs $999. The Ludicrous Speed model sports 16GB RAM, 64GB space of flash storage and an Intel Core i7 processor; costs $1,299. Other specs details are pretty much the same.

Google also announced a new store – store.google.com which would be the new hub for sales of all latest devices, apps and accessories from Google. Google Play will continue to offer TV shows, games, music, movies, and others but not devices anymore. When I tried to access the new Google store, it say it is currently available in the US only. Hopefully, it would debut be accessible for other countries soon.
