Google announces Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update

Google has announced the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS update on its official Android Blog. The new update will begin rolling-out to compatible devices soon via OTA; we expect the Nexus 6 and the Nexus 9 devices to be the first set of devices to get the new update.

The Android 5.1 Lollipop OS brings a number of stability and improvements over the previous version; this includes HD Voice support, support for Multiple SIM cards and device protection. 

It is still no fully detailed how Android 5.1 is better with Dual SIM devices; bit it makes it easier for a single user to take advantage of multiple carriers’ services or multiple users to share a dual SIM smartphone.

Support for native HD voice calling is the last  highlighted feature; users can now get crystal calls on HD on compatible devices as long as their carriers supports it. Android 5.1 ready devices such as Nexus 6 for T-Mobile and Nexus 6 for Verizon are mentioned as compatible devices.

Lastly, Security just got better and better; there is an enhanced device protection mechanism the update brings. This will see lost or stolen devices locked until the original user sign-in their Google Account even when the stolen device is restored back to factory settings. 

These are the three prominent updates coming with the Android 5.1 Lollipop OS Update. Other listed features includes – controlled paired bluetooth devices from quick settings menu and option to join Wi-Fi networks.
