Google Daydream View VR Headset for Phones costs $79

Earlier today, at the ‘Made by Google’ event in San Francisco, Google announced the Daydream View VR headset for phones along with the all new Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. The new VR headset is based on the Daydream platform which was announced at the Google I/O 2016 back in May.

Baked into the Android Nougat OS, the Google Daydream View virtual reality headset is made out of soft, breathable materials and compatible with the new Pixel and Pixel XL smartphones. It is cable-free, designed to fit eyeglasses and features a cosy slot for the minimalistic controller on the back of the lid.

The lightweight VR headset supports apps such as YouTube, Built Street View, Play Movies and Google Photos, while the controller can be used to draw, control motions and games. Google will reportedly team up with more than 50 partners to work on more apps, games and content for VR.‎

The ZTE Axon 7 and Asus Zenfone 3 Deluxe are the early confirmed Daydream VR compatible phones. Daydream itself is not a just a product but a platform for high-quality mobile VR for Android smartphones.‎ Available starting November, the Google Daydream View VR is priced at $79 (plus the controller) and will arrive in three colour options – Crimson, Slate and Snow. ‎
