Weeks after entering the hardware market with various offerings including smartphones, Google has added a new hardware product – Jamboard, a cloud-first 55-inch 4K digital whiteboard with the aim of making it way to create and share team ideas with same real-time collaboration found in Google’s G Suite.
The Google Jamboard sports a 55-inch 4k touchscreen display with quick response time and includes a built-in HD camera, speakers, Stylus and Wi-Fi. It supports 16 different level touch inputs and automatically recognises the difference between using the stylus to sketch or the eraser to start over.
Like a regular whiteboard, it can be mounted on a wall and will be looking to challenge Microsoft’s Surface Hub, which also offer similar function. It connects to Google cloud, can make use of all the G Suite tools and comes with multiple USB ports and 4K-ready HDMI ports. It can also be used like a standard 4K PC monitor or TV.
The 4K Google Jamboard will be released by early 2017 and wil be available for an expected retail price tag of $6,000. However, those interested in getting than hands on it earlier than the official release date can sign up for Google’s early adopter program.
