Google has taken the lid off the Huawei-made Nexus phone – Google Nexus 6P. The phablet sized device was announced along with the flagship Pixel C tablet and Nexus 5X smartphone. The device is available in Aluminium, Graphite, Frost and Gold colour options.
The Google Nexus 6P rocks a 5.7-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) QHD AMOLED display with a pixel density of 518ppi and measures 7.3mm thin. The metal-toting body is built with aircraft-grade aluminium and the display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 against cracks and scratches.
Under the hood, it is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 v2.1 processor clocked up to 2.0GHz with Adreno 430 GPU, 3GB of RAM and while there is no microSD card slot onboard for storage expanion, the available storage options are 32GB, 64GB and 128GB.
The Google Nexus 6P uses the same camera setup as the Nexus 5X, a 12.3MP main camera with boasts large 1.55µm pixels, F/2.0 aperture, Dual-LED flash and records 2160p videos. The front camera is a 8MP sensor with 1.4µm pixels and F/2.4 aperture. There is a fingerprint sensor called Nexus Imprint below the main camera.
The Google Nexus 6P measures 159.4 x 77.8 x 7.3mm in dimensions, weighs 176 grams, has Duo front facing speakers and is backed by a 3450mAh battery. The device cannot be charged wirelessly but has the USB Type-C onboard for fast wired charging and about 10 minutes of charge lasts 7hours.
In terms of pricing, the Google Nexus 6P starts at $499 for the 32GB model, $549 for the 64GB model and the 128GB model costs $649. The device is available unlocked, supports the 4G LTE bands of the major carriers in the US, works with Google’s Project Fi and would be available on the Google Play Store in October.
