The Google Nexus Player has been officially announced by Google as the first device to run on Android TV. The Nexus player is a streaming media player based on Android TV and also double as an Android gaming device. It is built in collaboration with ASUS and comes with the Gamepad for Nexus Player controller which is actually sold separately.
The Nexus Player is powered by a 1.8GHz Quad Core Intel Atom processor, a HDMI out for connecting to the TV and WiFi 802.11ac 2×2 (MIMO). There is also a Remote with voice search (Voice Remote) and 2 AAA batteries in the box.
With the Nexus player Android Games can be played on HDTV with a gamepad, the game can be resumed whenever the user switches to mobile. The device is also Google Cast ready i.e. It allows you cast entertainment from iOS or Android devices, Mac, Windows or Chromebook devices to the TV.
The Google Nexus Player will be up for pre-order in the Google Play Store on October 17, and will become available on November 3. It has a price tag of $99, meanwhile the gamepad accessory will cost an additional $39.
