Google has officially announced the Google Photos app as a standalone app after ripping it off Google +. The app is currently already available for Android , iOS and Web.
Google Photos has undergone an overhauling process and it is back with a bang. The service which stores and backup photos and videos now offers unlimited storage space for both high quality photos and videos, all for free.
Photos up to 16 Megapixels can now be stored in full resolution while those higher than that would be compressed but the quality would still be intact. Videos above 1080p would also be compressed while the quality will not affected. Users with paid Google Drive accounts can choose to save their photos and videos in its full resolution no matter the size.
Google Photos automatically organises and tag upload photos or videos and searching them is much easier. The app uses the same editing features used on Google +; asides enhancing pictures, it also combine them into clips, collages and mixes. Soundtrack and filters can also be added too.
