Google Pixel 5, Pixel 4a (5G) Now Official With Android 11

At a launch night virtual event, Google officially introduced the Pixel 5 and Pixel 4a (5G) smartphones as expected. Both Android 11 devices offer dual mode 5G connectivity thanks to the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G mobile platform and the Titan M security chip ensures security and safety. They also have AI and Assistant features, rear fingerprint sensor, and long-lasting batteries that last up to 48 hours with the Extreme Battery Saver feature.

The Pixel 5 sports a 6.0-inch FHD+ Flexible OLED always-on display with 19.5:9 aspect ratio, up to 90Hz refresh rate and HDR support. The top left notch houses the 8MP (f/2.0, 1.12μm pixel, FF, 83° FOV) selfie camera. The device itself packs 8GB RAM with 128 GB storage, has water resistant body, and depends on a 4,080mAh battery with 18W fast charging via USB-C port, Qi-compatible wireless charging, and Reverse wireless charging.

On the other hand, the Pixel 4a (5G) has a slightly larger 6.24-inch display with the same resolution and features, 6GB of RAM with 128GB storage, and 3,885mAh battery with 18W fast charging via USB-C port. For photography, both phones have a dual-rear camera setup with a 12.2MP (f/1.7, 1.4μm pixel, OIS + EIS, AF with Dual-Pixel PD, 77° FOV) dual pixel main snapper paired with 16MP (f/2.2, 1.0μm pixel, 107° FOV) ultrawide camera.

Google is offering the Pixel 5 for US$ 699/ GBP 599 / AU$ 999 in Just Black and Sorta Sage colours, and it will go on sale in eight countries worldwide including Australia starting October 15 in Canada and October 29 in Canada. The more affordable Pixel 4a (5G) will sell for US$ 499/ GBP 499 / AU$ 799 and will be available in Japan starting October 15 and in either other countries worldwide including Australia starting November. With every purchase, Google is including three months of Stadia and YouTube Premium trial and three months of Google One (100GB) subscription.
