Google announce Xiaomi Mi A1 Android One Smartphone

New Delhi, India: Google’s fading affordable smartphone initiative, Android One is back in the news with the launch of the Xiaomi Mi A1. Akin to existing smartphones from the line, the Mi A1 ‎is produced by Xiaomi but the software experience is designed by Google i.e it runs stock Android and comes pre-loaded with the company’s products such as Google Photo and Google Assistant.

The Xiaomi Mi A1 is the ‎global variant of the MI 5X and has the same dual rear camera setup (12MP wide angle lens + 12MP telephoto lens). It will receive the update to Android 8.0 Oreo at some point this year and is ‎one of the few devices already around confirmed to get the next major version of mobile OS (Android P).

Sporting a metal unibody design, the device has a 5.5-inch Full HD 2.5D curved glass LTPS display with Corning Gorilla Glass protection, rear fingerprint sensor, 4GB of RAM, 64GB built-in storage and USB Type-C port. The Xiaomi Mi A1 will be available in various regions across the world including India, ‎Indonesia, Russia, Vietnam and Taiwan. In India, it is priced starting at Rs. 14,999 (US$ 374) and will be available to buy on Flipkart, Mi.com and Mi Home stores starting September 12. Black, Gold and Rose Gold are the available colour options.
