Google (or Alphabet if you may like) has launched Android Experiments, an open and flexible platform for developers to showcase mobile apps with new interface and cutting edge technology for Android and Android Wear.
Android Experiments from Google takes after the same concept behind the company’s Chrome Experiments; the latter deals with major Chrome extensions built using new design or cutting edge technology, newer user interface and aesthetics.
At the time of announcement, the search giant note that there are 20 experimental apps on Android Experiments from watch faces for Android Wear, innovative Android apps to camera experiments. All the apps are built using platforms such as Android SDK and NDK, Android Wear, Cinder, the IOIO Board, Processing, OpenFrameworks and Unity.
The platform is open to all developers from beginners down to the pros to submit their apps for inclusion (so nobody is left out) and all the apps listed on the platform are open sourced for other developers to be able to learn from how they were made.
The apps would be searchable and available on Google Play Store for downloads, but there won’t be any separate category or listing for these apps.
To check completed projects and submit your app up for listing, head over to the Android Experiments website, however, there is no assurance that all apps submitted will be published.
