Gree Electric Appliance company (or just Gree) is a very popular company in China known for its Air Conditioner, Air Purifiers, water dispensers and other household appliances. The company has decided to enter the smartphone business and its first device – the Gree G0111 (Gree G0111m) which has already surfaced in leaks has been certified by TENAA in china.
The Gree G0111 measures 8.8mm in thickness (full dimensions – 139 X 70 X 8.8mm), weighs 118 grams and has a 5-inch (1280 X 720 pixels) HD TFT display. Under the hood it is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM and 8GB space of internal storage. There is a microSd card slot on-board for storage expansion (either up to 32GB or 64GB).
It uses a rear facing 5MP camera and a front facing 2MP camera combination. Connectivity options on the device includes – GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 4G LTE and Infrared Connectivity. The Gree G0111 supports GSM, TD-LTE, LTE FDD, WCDMA networks and runs on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS.
The battery capacity is not listed but the device is expected to be strategically priced due to its modest specs, maybe a Sub-$100 or Sub-$150 price would gain the device more traction. Going by its long fierce battle with Xiaomi in China, Gree would be looking to decrease the latter’s market share in the country. Theoretically, we will just have to see how that happens.
