In recent times, there has been an influx of 5G-enabled smartphones in the markets and we expect more to launch before the end of the year. Device makers such as Hisense, Realme and nubia all launched the Hisense F50 5G, New iPhone SE (2020), nubia Play 5G while Apple refreshed its 4.7-inch phone range with the New iPhone SE (2020).
Hisense F50 5G
The news of the launch of the Hisense F50 5G was revealed during the launch of the Unisoc T7510 5G SoC. The chipset has an octa-core architecture (4x Cortex-A75 cores @2.0GHz and 4x Cortex-A55 cores @1.8GHz) and feature Hi-Turbo smart engine with support for dual-mode 5G connectivity while the device has 8mm PC-level heat pipe for heat dissipation and 5,010mAh battery with 18W fast charging.
The F50 5G has four rear cameras on the back, consisting of a 48MP primary camera with 8MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 2MP focal lens and 2MP ultra macro lens. The rest of the specs includes 6.5-inch display with waterdrop notch, rear fingerprint sensor and Bluetooth 5.0. In terms of pricing, the only 6GB RAM + 128GB storage model is on sale in China for CNY 2,199 (~USD 310).
Apple iPhone SE (2020)
Apple recently discontinued iPhone 8 from 2017 and refreshed its phone lineup with the new iPhone SE (2020). The device has same A13 Bionic chip as the iPhone 11 and iPhone 11 Pro and marks the return of the home button (Face ID). It packs a single 12MP, wide rear camera with Smart HDR, 4.7-inch liquid retina HD display, aluminium body frame and IP67 rating (water and dust resistance).
Other features from the iPhone 8 which has also been carried over include support for both wireless charging and fast wired charging, no headphone jack, 4K video recording at 60fps, stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC with reader mode and gigabit-class LTE. It comes in three storage models – 64GB (US$ 399), 128GB (US$449) and 256GB (US$ 549), and includes a free year of Apple TV+ subscription.

nubia Play 5G
nubia’s latest gaming-focused smartphone – the nubia Play 5G is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G mobile platform and power is supplied by a 5,100mAh battery with 30W fast charging via USB PD. It packs a notchless 6.65-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with 144Hz refresh rate and 240Hz Touch Response Rate, up to 8GB of RAM, up to 256GB storage and boot Nubia UI 8.0 (Android 10). On the back, the phone has a quad camera setup which comprises of a 48MP Sony IMX582 primary sensor paired with 8MP ultra-wide, 2MP macro, and 2MP depth sensors.
The tiny top bezel on the front houses the 12MP selfie camera. The rest of the specs includes an in-display fingerprint sensor, 5G connectivity (SA/NSA), side-placed pressure-sensitive buttons and ICE 2.5 cooling system. In terms of pricing the nubia Play 5G is priced at CNY 2,399, CNY 2,699, and CNY 2,999 for the 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB RAM and storage configurations.
Realme X50m 5G
Realme unveiled a toned-down version of the Realme X50 5G. The Realme X50m 5G, as it is now known, retains most of the same specs, however, the main camera setup has been modified into a 48MP (F/1.8, 79O FOV) primary sensor paired with a 8MP (f/2.3, 119O FOV) ultra-wide, 2MP (f/2.4) macro and 2MP (f/2.4) monochrome combination.
On the front, the camera setup is now a 16MP (f/2.0, 79.3O FOV) + 2MP (f/2.4, 78.3O FOV) combination. It is now based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G mobile platform and packs a 6.57-inch FHD+ display with 90.4% screen-to-body ratio and 120Hz refresh rate, and depends on a 4,200mAh battery with 30W dart fast charging technology. It is priced starting at CNY 1,999 for the 6GB + 128GB version and CNY 2,299 for the 8GB + 128GB storage variant.
