Along with the Honor 6A and Honor Play Tab 2 (8-inch and 9.6-inch) tablets, Huawei’s Honor sub-brand also announced the launch of the Honor Band A2. The new budget fitness tracker succeeds last year’s Honor Band A1, and comes with a 0.96-inch OLED touch display and heart rate monitor.
Like most fitness trackers around, the Huawei Band A2 counts steps and tracks various activities such as running, cycling, sleeping and walking. It also include notification support (calls, texts and emails) when connected to a smartphone (Android or iOS) via Bluetooth and is IP67 certified i.e it is dust resistant and withstand when submerged in water up to 1m for 30 mins.
Thanks to the display, users can now get real time data for the activities they choose to indulge in. The Band A2 is backed by a 95mAh battery, which Honor says provides up to 9 days of battery life on a single charge and about 18 days of standby time.
Despite the upgrade in features compared to the Band A1, the Huawei Band A2 will sell for same affordable price tag – CNY 199 (US$ 30). It arrives with the option of four different strap options – Black, Red, Yellow and White, and will be available in China starting June 9. No word yet on availability outside the home country.
