How to disable Google Services and Other Apps on Rooted Android Device

Having a rooted Android devices gives you a lot of freedom and numerous control over your device – as such you can remove bloatware apps and other unnecessary apps from your phone. However, there some system apps and service apps such as Google Services or vendor apps which you are not advised to delete.

How do you no go about it, when you are asked not to delete these apps; the way out is to freeze or disable these system apps or services. The reason behind this is that, its likely you cannot get them back on Google Play or online; what if it affects another app?

Disabling or Freezing an app would disable its functions but whenever you need it you can get it back functioning. So what tools do you need for this – Your Android device must bee rooted and then you need to download ‘Disable Service App’ on Google Play

How to disable Google Services and Other Apps on Rooted Android Device

You need to know this operation was carried out on an rooted Android device running Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OS.
1. Launch the downloaded Disable Service App, the below screen pops up (refer to image). As we are not after Third Party Apps, Click on System instead, then you see a list of System apps and services.

2. It’s necessary to have in mind the list of System service or apps you do not use; lets say you select ‘Cloud Print’ or ‘Android Live Wallpaper’ – A pop up comes up asking you to grant SuperUser root privileges; once it is granted the service can be turned off.

3. You will have to select each service or app one after the other to disable or freeze them. Disable Service doesn’t allow to mark all at once. You checkout how ‘Cloud Print’ was disabled or frozen with the image below.

4. It is possible to disable each and every system service; but it’s up to each user to determine what and which app or service he/she would like to disable or enable. It’s very easy to disable and enable apps using Disable Services.

Users need to know that Disable service doesn’t work on System apps and services alone, you can also apply the above process to Third Party Ones too but on a rooted Android Device. Enjoy.
