HP has officially announced a refreshed version of the cloud-centric laptop Chromebook 11. Starting July (through channel partners) and later in October (through retail stores), the HP Chromebook 11 G5 with redesigned chassis, more slimmer and lighter body, newer processor and better battery life, is available in the US starting at US$ 189.
The HP Chromebook 11 G5 is the first 11.6″ HP Chromebook with a touchscreen display – preparing it for the onslaught of compatible Android apps and Google Play Store, coming to Chrome OS later this year. The battery lasts up to 11 hours on a touchscreen model and up to 12.5 hours on a nontouch screen one.
Being a refreshed model, it sports the same 11.6-inch IPS display with 1366 x 768 pixels screen resolution and there is a version with an optional HD IPS touchscreen panel protected by Corning Gorilla Glass NBT. It powered by the Intel Celeron N3060 Brasswel processor with 2GB or 4GB of RAM and 16GB or 32GB built-in storage space.
The HP Chromebook 11 G5 weighs under 1.14 Kg for the non-touchscreen model while the touch-screen model weighs under 1.87kg; both measures 205 x 286 x 18.4 mm in dimensions. In terms of connectivity, the Chromebook sports Wi-Fi 802.11ac, 2 x USB 3.1, Bluetooth 4.2, HDMI and a microSD card reader.
