Lenovo, Apple and some notable few has done theirs, HP has also joined that list by announcing the HP Spectre x2 – a Microsoft Surface Pro 3/4 rival or more like clone. The 2-in-1 tablet with a bundled killer keyboard for what HP calls an un-compromised notebook experience.
The HP Spectre x2 sports a 12-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) FHD display and has a U-shaped kickstand made of stainless steel (3.5mm) with a friction hinge for adjusting the device in angles up to 150-degrees. The display is touch enabled and works with active stylus while the shape (U shape) of the kickstand helped the slate achieve its thin body build.
Talking about thin bodies, the tablet alone measures 8mm thin and weighs 0.84kg but this changes when the keyboard is docked, it measures 13.15mm and weighs 1.22kg. It runs Windows 10, has up to 10 hours of battery life provided by a 42Wh battery and comes with two USB Type-C ports for connectivity as well as powering the slate.
In terms of processing power, the HP Spectre x2 is powered by the latest 6th-gen Intel processors (Intel Core m3, m5 and m7 processors) with up to 4GB of RAM and either 128GB or 256GB or 512GB. There are three cameras onboard – a front facing 5MP camera, a rear facing 8MP camera and Intel RealSense Camera R200.
The keyboard attaches and detaches to the slate through a magnetic connector; it is a full sized 1.5mm travel keyboard with 120 x 55mm touchpad. Connectivity options onboard also include 4G LTE and Wi-Fi . Quality audio performance is expected to be provided by Bang & Olufsen, the tablet has dual speakers and the keyboard also have dual speakers.
The HP Spectre x2 is available starting at $799 and would be available in stores by November.
