HTC has officially announced a new smartphone under a new One S series but the design is inspired by the company’s One M9 flagship. Dubbed the HTC One S9, the mid-ranger follows the recently launched HTC 10 into the market and will sell for a price tag of EUR 499 starting next month.
Sporting a full metal body build, the HTC One S9 packs a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super LCD display with a pixel density of 443 ppi and Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It measures 10.09 mm thick, weighs 158 grams in size and boots Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with HTC Sense on top.
The One S9 relies on a Mediatek Helio X10 octa-core processor clocked at 2.0GHz with 2GB of RAM and 16GB built-in storage space (up to 2TB via microSD). It supports 2G, 3G and 4G LTE (Cat. 4) networks as well as Bluetooth 4.1, Dual Band Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, DLNA, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, and NFC.
For photography, the primary snapper is a 13-megapixel camera with f/2.0 aperture, Dual-tone LED flash, OIS and 28 mm equivalent focal length. It also has Pro mode and hyperlapse video shooting. The secondary camera is a 4MP UltraPixel camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies.
The HTC One S9 has HTC’s signature BoomSound speakers with Dolby Audio onboard and is backed by a 2840mAh battery with Quick Charging. One major talking point will be the absence of a fingerprint scanner which can be found on devices that cost lesser than it.
