HTC is expected to announce its first smartwatch alongside the HTC One M9 and One M9 Plus. According to @upleaks, the company’s smartwatch is currently called HTC Petra and is coming this early 2015 (possibly at the MWC 2015). The smartwatch would have three days of battery life.
The highlight of the smartwatch is it would not run on Android Wear OS and it would support both Android (Android 4.4+) and iOS (iOS 7+) devices. HTC doesn’t want to limit the smartwatch to android-only devices that’s why it decided to go with an in-house built RTOS.
HTC Petra is available in three different sizes – Small, Medium and Large; Two colour combinations options – Teal/Lime and Black/Blue-gray), weighs 23grams, sports a 1.8-inch PMOLED 160 x 32 resolution and it’s battery would be charged via POGO pin or USB.
The smartwatch would be IP57 certification (Water/Dustproof) and MIL-STD-810G certification. It would also come with a footpad for recording accurate steps counted. The smartwatch has an in-built GPS and connects to smartphones over Bluetooth. The HTC Petra would be available worldwide and the US would be the first country to get the device.
