Earlier today, HTC announced two new ‘U Series’ smartphones – the budget-friendly U Play and flagship-level U Ultra. The HTC U Play is a modest version of the latter with some of the specs scaled down and the secondary display is also missing. It uses the same body design and sports a smaller 5.2-inch Super LCD display with Full HD screen resolution.
On the inside, the HTC U Play relies on an octa-core Mediatek Helio P10 processor paired along with 3GB or 4GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB built-in expandable storage space. It is equipped with the USB 2.0 Type-C port for charging and the HTC USonic replaced thhe traditional 3.5mm audio port.
Photography is handled by a front facing 16MP camera with f/2.0 aperture and 28mm lens. The front camera also has the UltraPixel mode for capturing 4MP images. The main camera is also 16MP snapper with dual-Tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, PDAF, OIS and dual-tone LED flash.
The HTC U Play has a fingerprint sensor and s supports 4G LTE and is backed by a rather small 2500mAh battery. Like the U Ultra, it will be available in four colour options including Black, Blue, and Cosmetic. It will launch around the world by Q1 2017 and begin shipping soon.
