With strong rumours that the Google Nexus series is heading for extinction and would be replaced with the Android Silver program; new details about a 8.9-inch (9-inch) nexus tablet has surfaced online. The 8.9-inch nexus tablet would be manufactured by HTC and it is codenamed Volantis and also known as Flounder but is codenamed Nexus 9 internally.
The HTC Volantis features a 8.9-inch (2048 x 1440 pixels) with a pixel density of 281pixels per inch (ppi) and a 4:3 aspect ratio. The tablet is powered by a 64-bit NVIDIA Logan Tegra K1 processor, 2GB of RAM, and there two internal storage variants – 16GB and 32GB. The tablet would be designed based on the aluminium zero-gap construction.
On the rear of the HTC volantis is a 8MP rear camera with Optical Image Stabilisation, a 3MP front facing snapper for video calling, stereo front facing speakers. Connectivity options include Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 4G.

Pricing and Availability
The HTC Volantis (Nexus 9) has been slated for a Q4 launch and would likely correspond with the release of the Android L, and the Android Silver is slated for a early 2015 release. And a launch at the Google Annual I/O is also unlikely, the 16GB variant has been set with a price tag of $399 (£235 or ₦65,000) and the 32GB version with a price tag of $499 (£293 or ₦82,000).
The LTE version is expected to cost more than the Wi-Fi version, however the stated price could change for the upcoming Nexus 9 tablet.
