Huawei 4.5G Smartband, the world’s first LTE-M wearable

Huawei has announced the 4.5G Smartband – the world’s first LTE-M wearable or the world’s first wearable with LTE connectivity. The smartband will support Huawei’s 4.5G network which is said to rollout as early as next year (2016).

The Huawei 4.5G LTE Network is said to be in-between 4G and 5G networks; it is capable of producing data speed as high as 1GB/second and will help guide drones and VR.

“4.5G supports up to 100K per cell connections via LTE-M, 100 times that of 4G. LTE-M also provides better coverage. Receivers require just 1/100th of the signal of existing 2G system, 20dB gain, using low-power terminals.”

Most of the specs of the Huawei 4.5G smartband are not available except that the band will monitor users’ fitness level and heart rate. The device is also compatible with other Internet of Thing (IoT) devices such as Thermostats and Energy readers.

Judging by the company’s available smartband – it could have a 1.4-inch OLED display, bluetooth, NFC, Dust and water resistant. The catch there is the LTE-M chip incorporated in it which made by Neul (a Huawei owned company).

The Huawei 4.5G smartband is expected to be showcased at the MWC 2015 which comes up next week. The company is also expected to give more details on its upcoming 4.5G Network plans.
