At the launch event of the Mate 9 and its luxury Porsche Design variant, Huawei also announced a new wearable – the Huawei Fit. The lightweight ‘watch-style’ activity tracker automatically sense movement, counts steps, measures sleep rate, features continuous heart rate monitoring and multi-sport activities.
Bearing a striking semblance with the Pebble Time Round, the Huawei Fit features an always-on monochrome touchscreen LCD display and arrives in either Titanium Gray or Moonlight Silver finish with interchangeable straps (various sizes) in Black, Blue and Orange colour options.
The tracker doesn’t feature a standalone GPS but syncs with Huawei’s Wear app (Android or iOS devices) and supports alert for incoming calls, messages and reminders. It promises up to a week of battery life on normal usage; up to 30 days on a single charge and charges full in less two hours.
Due to the heart rate sensor’s ‘high-signal strength’, sources state that Fit is the first wearable to achieve TÜV-WT reliability and accuracy certification. It is also 5 ATM waterproof (i.e water resistant to 50 meters). The Huawei Fit is available in the US for 129.99 at Amazon, Best Buy and Newegg.
Also, the wearable will go on sale in Europe – France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands and Portugal.
