The Huawei Honor 7 is said to be the first device getting the honour of running the company’s new mobile – the Kirin OS. Kirin is already a name associated with the company’s in-house made chipset – Hisilicon Kirin.
According to a new source, the Huawei Honor 7 would be available in two OS variants in the market – a variant running on Kirin OS and the other variant running the company’s known Android OS and Emotion UI (EMUI). As seen in the screenshot below, clearly a device is running the Kirin OS version 1.0, however, other details about the details are not clear at the moment.
Last month, reports surfaced that Huawei is likely close to releasing its own proprietary mobile OS as it is looking to depend less on foreign firms, especially those from the US (Google would be the first on that list). The development of the software is said to have dated back to 2012, so it is a long while to have finally gotten things right.
Some of the most important issues with new mobile OS despite their bright looking future (e.g Jolla) would be how they fare against the two already established OS – Apple’s iOS and Google’s Android. It is very hard for a new mobile OS to seize the market from Android and iOS, and considering established firms like Blackberry and Microsoft (Lumia) have less than 7% of the market share tells the whole story.
The Huawei Honor 7 is expected to sport a 5-inch Full HD display, an octa-core Kirin 935 processor, 3GB or 4GB of RAM, 64GB or 128GB space of internal storage and would be backed by a 3280mAh battery.
