Back in June, Huawei’s Honor sub-brand launched the Honor Play gaming-centric smartphone alongside the Honor 9i (Honor 9N). The gaming-centric smartphone comes with Huawei’s GPU Turbo technology which boosts graphics processing performance by 60% while reducing SoC power consumption by 30%.
The Honor Play has a notched 6.3-inch (2340 x 1080 pixels) Full HD+ LCD 19.5:9 display with 89% screen-to-body ratio, Histen 3D audio technology to provide ultra-wide 3D sound field for users and supports 30 different scenarios where the phone vibrates during various actions of gameplay (AI-enabled Smart Shock 4D).
The smartphone is powered by the Kirin 970 SoC with NPU – same on the P20 Series and Nova 3 – and comes pre-loaded with Android Oreo OS with EMUI 8.2. For photography, it is equipped with 16MP (f/2.2) + 2MP (f/2.4) cameras with AI technology and a 16MP selfie camera with face unlock support.
The Honor Play also has a USB Type-C port, 3.5mm audio jack and a 3,750mAh battery with fast charging support. The standard model (4GB + 64GB) is priced at CNY 1,999 while the high version (6GB + 64GB) sells for CNY 2,399. Honor is also launching a special edition model called the Honor Play Cool Edition, with red and black colour stripes.
