The Huawei Maimang 8 has quietly gone official in China. The device is expected to be launched in various markets around the world as the Huawei Mate 30 Lite, successor to last year’s Mate 20 Lite (Maimang 7). It is based on the same Kirin 710 octa-core processor and the phone’s design is very identical to last year’s Huawei P Smart+ 2019.
The Maimang 8 also features a total of four cameras – three at the back and one in the front teardrop notch. The triple rear camera setup includes a 24MP main snapper paired with a 16MP wide-angle snapper and 2MP depth sensing snapper. The back also houses a fingerprint scanner while the front has a 8MP selfie camera. Some of the camera features on offer include 480 fps slow-motion video recording, AI Scene Recognition and more.
The Huawei Maimang 8 arrives only 6GB RAM and 128GB storage configurations, and boots EMUI 9 (based on Android 9.0 Pie). It sports a 6.21-inch IPS LCD 19.5:9 display with 2.5D curved glass and TUV Rheinland certification for protecting the eyes from blue rays, microSD card slot (supports up to 512GB cards), microUSB port and depends on a 3,400mAh battery with 10W (5V/2A) fast charging. It is priced at CNY 1,899 and comes in Midnight Black and Sapphire Blue colours starting June 12.
