Huawei has finally taken the wraps off the flagship Huawei Mate 20 series smartphones – the Mate 20, Mate 20 Pro, Mate 20 X and PORSCHE DESIGN HUAWEI Mate 20 RS at an event at ExCel in London. All four are powered by the Huawei’s Kirin 980 7nm chipset with dual NPU, metal body frames with glass back and boot Android 9.0 Pie with EMUI 9.0 on top.
The new Huawei Mate 20 Series smartphones also have a USB Type-C port, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC and hybrid dual SIM slot (nano + nano/NM slot) which allows the second SIM slot support Nano Memory (NM) cards. They offer 70% faster Wi-Fi connection and dual-frequency GPS support.

Huawei Mate 20 and Mate 20 Pro
The Mate 20 has a 6.53-inch FHD+ display with 88.07% screen-to-body, rear fingerprint sensor and a 4,000mAh battery while the Mate 20 Pro sports a 6.39-inch QHD+ display with 86.90% screen-to-body ratio, in-display fingerprint sensor with 10-level Dynamic Pressure Sensing (DPS) technology and a 4,200mAh battery.
Both models support Huawei’s SuperCharge fast charge tech and only the Pro model has 15W Wireless Quick Charge support and Wireless Reverse charge, which enables the device to serve as a power bank for charging other devices compatible with Qi Wireless Charging.
For photography, the Huawei Mate 20 is equipped with 16MP (f/2.2) camera with wide angle lens; 12MP (f/1.8) camera with ultra-wide angle lens and a 8MP (f/2.4) telephoto camera (2x optical zoom). While the Huawei Mate 20 Pro packs a bigger 40MP (f/1.8) wide angle lens, 20MP (f/2 2) camera with ultra-wide angle lens and 8MP (f/2.4) telephoto camera (3x optical zoom). Both models pack a front 24MP (f/2.0) selfie camera and various AI features (front and rear).
The Mate 20 Pro has 3D Face unlock, 3D Live Emoji, a rare underwater mode and a waterproof case that further helps to capture underwater photos while the front notch houses a dot projector, IR Camera, flood illuminator, Ambient Light sensor and Proximity.
- The Huawei Mate 20 is available in Black, Midnight Blue and Twilight colours. The 4GB + 128GB variant is priced at EUR 799 and the 6GB + 128GB variant for EUR 849.
- The Huawei Mate 20 Pro arrive in Black, Emerald Green Midnight Blue and Twilight colours. The 6GB + 128GB variant starts at EUR 1049.
Huawei Mate 20 X
According to Huawei, the Mate 20 X features the world’s first liquid multi- dimensional cooling system with Vapour Chamber (VC) and Graphene Film to keep the device cool for smooth gaming. It sports a large 7.12-Inch display, FHD+ HDR display, rear fingerprint sensor, dual speakers with dual smart PA and Dolby atmos support, and a 5,000mAh battery with SuperCharge fast charging.
The gaming-focused smartphone has the same camera features (front and rear) as the Huawei Mate 20 Pro and supports Huawei’s M-Pen, making it a possible rival to Samsung’s Galaxy Note 9. The the 6GB + 128GB variant will go on sale starting at EUR 899 in select markets such as France, Italy, the U.K and United Arab Emirates starting from October 26th.
