With most of the spotlight on the virtual launch of the new Mate 40 series smartphones including the special PORSCHE Design edition, Huawei has quietly added a new 5G smartphone to the Mate series in form of the Huawei Mate 30E Pro 5G in China. This model is based on last year’s Huawei Mate 30 Pro 5G, which kicked off the early wave of Huawei devices with Huawei Mobile Services (HMS).
Available starting early November, the Huawei Mate 30E Pro 5G has most of the specs of the Mate 30 Pro 5G including the body design, quad camera system (ring shape) and 4,500mAh battery with wired and wireless fast charging. The noticeable difference is the change of processor to an unannounced Kirin 990E processor which appears to be the Kirin 990 over-clocked in the last two clusters.
Kirin 990 | Kirin 990E | |
Process | 7nm+ EUV | 7nm+ EUV |
CPU | 2x Cortex-A76 @2.86GHz + 2x Cortex-A76 @2.09GHz + 4x Cortex-A55 @1.86GHz | 2x Cortex-A76 @2.86GHz + 2x Cortex-A76 @2.36GHz + 4x Cortex-A55 @1.95 GHz |
GPU | 16-Core Mali-G76 | 14-Core Mali-G76 |
The Mate 30E Pro 5G is available in two configurations – 8GB RAM with either 128GB or 256GB storage (expandable up to 256GB via NM memory card). It comes pre-loaded with EMUI 11 (based on Android 10) like the Mate 40 series and arrives in Bright Black, Dawn Orange, Emerald, Galaxy Silver, Roland Purple and Shining Green. There is no word on official pricing in China and worldwide availability.
